I think it may be just a way for the photographer to earn some extra money for nothing. Its important to know everything that your headshot session includes. Ask the photographer to explain all of the pricing and details of the session in full BEFORE your take your pictures.

Do Not name drop. Knowing someone has no effect on your skills and will make you look like a star struck novice.
